The collection consists of a check made out to Mr. & Mrs. Byrn by R. Peake in the amount of thirteen pounds, 13 Feb. 1802, on a printed check form of Messrs. Hammersleys & Co. Peake was treasurer of the Drury Lane Theatre; Mrs. Byrn may have been his dancing partner, Lucia Rossi. Signed on the verso by Byrn.

James Byrn was a London-born dancer and choreographer. He was trained by Drury Lane choreographer Signior Giorgi, and danced at the Little Theatre at Haymarket with his sister, and later became ballet master at Covent Garden.
